The crowds came out again in Clonmel to see the spectacle of the Criterium of the Suir Valley 3 Day. The race started out with a very fast pace and it was the riders of JLT, iTap, UCD, Spirit Bikes, Killarney, Megoraw and NRPT who were making all the racing. Jake Hales however started to eat into the points competition from the start and took all hotspots of th night and took over the pinewood points competition. Halfway through the race a group of 6 riders hit the tarmac on the tight left handed but after a neutral lap they made their way back into the lead peloton.
It was not until the 36th minute that 5 riders went clear Jake Hales & Ed Clemens Spirit Bikes, Ian Ricardson – UCD , Ed Laverick and Yellow Jersey Stephen Williams of JLT Condor. The group rode very strongly and an 8 second gap soon became 28secs…but through the efforts of riders like Daire Feeley , Robin Garry, Simon Ryan, Richard Maes, and Eoin O’Connell to name but a few 37 chasers this was reduced to 17 odd seconds near the finish but the effort of the last lap the leaders extended this back to 28 seconds.
The group worked well together but it was the experience of Ed Clemens – Spirit Bikes that won the day ahead of teammate Jake Hales
